FAQs

I’m having trouble making a reservation on the website. What should I do?
Please calls us at 505-583-0002. Or email stay@cliffriversprings.com to let us know when it would be convenient for us to call you. We’re happy to talk over options and book the casita(s) of your choice over the phone with you. You can familiarize yourself with each of our seven casitas by taking a look at the main Casitas page, for starters. And we do apologize for any inconvenience!
What is your cancellation policy?
Upon booking your casita(s), we ask for a 50% deposit to hold your reservation. If, for whatever reason, you need to cancel your stay with us, you can cancel up to 14 days of your arrival to receive a full refund minus a $35 cancellation fee. If you need to cancel within 14 days of your arrival, your deposit will be forfeited. However, if there are alternate dates that could work better for you, we are happy to apply your deposit to that future reservation. (Groups must cancel 60 days out to be refunded the deposit minus a $75 cancellation fee.)
Are you a B&B? Do you serve meals?
We’re not a B&B and we don’t serve meals, but that doesn’t mean we don’t love to eat! All it takes to be completely satisfied on the food front is a little advanced planning. Your casita comes equipped with a full kitchen and we’ll stock your fridge with breakfast items before you arrive. Check out our Food page for many more details on this important topic.
Does Cliff River Springs have WiFi? How do I connect?
There is free wifi in all the casitas. It extends a fair distance outside as well. There are two networks: Tecolote 1 and Tecolote 2. In your settings, select whichever seems to have the strongest signal and enter the simple password you’ll find in your casita. It works for both networks.
Is there cell service? How do I make a phone call?
There is no cell service on the ranch. We think it’s a good thing! The best way to make calls is to use Skype, Viber or FaceTime over wifi. Or use the common landline phone currently located on the portal (porch) in front of Cliff House. Local calls and long distance calls are free. Out of consideration for Cliff House guests, please step away from the portal to talk. You will reconnect to cell service when you drive into Ojo Caliente, three miles away.
How can someone reach me in an emergency?
You can leave the Cliff River Springs number with family and friends. It is 505-583-0002. (Please ask them to call us only in an emergency.) We will do our best to find you immediately.
How can I reach you (Hope) after I arrive?
Depending on the urgency, there are several ways. You can leave a note for me on the breezeway bulletin board. You can walk down to my home office between the hours of 8:30 am and 6 pm (or any time during an emergency). You can call me from the common landline phone on the Cliff House portal (583-0002), but please not after 6 pm unless it’s an emergency. I carry my cell phone with me so if you have an iPhone you can iMessage me to my cell number which is in your casita’s book. Or you can email me: hope@cliffriversprings.com.
Do the casitas have air conditioning?
Only Upper Stream, our 2nd story casita, has AC as it receives the full afternoon sun. None of the other casitas do. All of them have ceiling fans in the living rooms and bedrooms, however, and are very well insulated. Being mostly constructed of adobe they stay cool during the day if you take care to close the windows, doors, curtains and blinds, early in the morning. That way the cool night air is retained all day. Temperatures drop at night, providing a very comfortable sleeping temperature. Just be sure to reopen all the windows overnight to let in the cool air.
What do I do with the recycling and trash I’m collecting?
There are large bins in the breezeway for glass, cans and plastic. You can empty your small recycling containers into those larger ones if you are running out of room. Please add your full trash bag to the larger trash bin in the breezeway. There should be replacement trash bags inside your trash container under your sink. We don’t compost, unfortunately. Compost attracts too many critters out here.
Where is the nearest post office?
The Ojo Caliente post office is on US 285 just south of the turn to the Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs, on the right side of the road.. Best to call to be sure. The number is 505-583-2318.
Where is the nearest medical facility?
Las Clinicas Del Norte has an established care clinic in Ojo Caliente which serves our rural population. It is on US 285 right next to the Post Office. They don’t practice urgent care, but you can get stitches and be evaluated/referred for other conditions. The clinic is open Tuesday – Friday 8 am to 6:30 pm. The number in Ojo is 583-2191.
