FAQs

I’m having trouble making a reservation on the website. What should I do?
Please calls us at 505-583-0002. Or get in touch via our contact page to let us know when it would be convenient for us to call you. We’re happy to talk over options and book the casita(s) of your choice over the phone with you. You can familiarize yourself with each of our eight casitas by taking a look at the main Casitas page, for starters. And we do apologize for any inconvenience!
What is your cancellation policy?
A 50% deposit secures your reservation when you book. If you need to cancel your stay, you can do so up to 7 days prior to your arrival and receive a full deposit refund. Cancellation fees are waived in 2021. If you must cancel within 7 days of your arrival, you will forfeit 1/2 your deposit. If you cancel less than 2 days (48 hours) prior to 3 pm check in on the date of your scheduled arrival, you will be responsible for the full amount of your stay. Please see a full description of the cancellation policy for groups here.
Are you a B&B? Do you serve meals?
We’re not a B&B in the traditional sense. We don’t lay out a breakfast spread and ask that you to gather at fixed time. We used to stock your refrigerator with breakfast items for your first morning, but with Covid-19 that, sadly, has gone away. Your casita comes equipped with a full kitchen and we strongly encourage you to shop on your way to us. Check out our Food page for many more details on this important topic.
Does Cliff River Springs have WiFi? How do I connect?
There is free 100 Mpbs fiber optic wifi in all the casitas. It extends a fair distance outside as well. There are two networks: Tecolote 1 and Tecolote 2. (Hill House has its own network and pw.) In your device settings, select whichever network seems to have the strongest signal and enter the simple password you’ll find in your casita’s book. The password works for both networks.
Is there cell service? How do I make a phone call?
There’s little to no cell service on the ranch. We think it’s a good thing! The best way to make calls is to enable wifi calling on your smart phone, or to use the landline located on the porch in front of Cliff House. It’s there for all to use. Local and long distance calls are free. (Out of consideration for Cliff House guests, please step away from the porch to talk.) You will reconnect to cell service when you drive into Ojo Caliente, four miles away.
How can someone reach me in an emergency?
You can leave the Cliff River Springs office number with family and friends. It is 505-583-0002. When I go to town I forward that number to my cell phone so this is a reliable way to get in touch. We will do our best to find you immediately.
How can I contact you (Hope) after I arrive?
The quickest way is to call me from the landline phone on the Cliff House porch. My number is 505-583-0002, but please don’t call after 6 pm unless something has gone awry or it’s an emergency. After 6 pm feel free to email me to hope@cliffriversprings.com. I also carry my cell phone around with me so if you have an iPhone you can iMessage me to the cell number which is in your casita’s book. During the day feel free to hail me when you see me to talk about whatever’s on your mind.
Do the casitas have air conditioning?
Only Upper Stream, our 2nd story casita, has AC as it receives the full afternoon sun. None of the other casitas do. All of them have ceiling fans in the living rooms and bedrooms, however, and are very well insulated. Being mostly constructed of adobe they stay cool during the day if you take care to close the windows, doors, curtains and blinds, early in the morning. That way the cool night air is retained all day. Temperatures drop at night, providing a very comfortable sleeping temperature. Just be sure to reopen all the windows overnight to let in the cool air.
What do I do with the recycling and trash I’m collecting?
There are large bins in the breezeway for glass, cans and plastic. You can empty your small recycling containers into those larger ones if you are running out of room. Please add your full trash bag to the larger trash bin in the breezeway. There should be replacement trash bags inside your trash container under your sink. We don’t compost, unfortunately. Compost attracts too many critters out here.
Where is the nearest post office?
The Ojo Caliente post office is on US 285 just south of the turn to the Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs, on the right side of the road.. Window hours for buying stamps or mailing packages are Monday through Friday 10 to 2, Saturdays 9 – 11, but be advised that those hours seem to change often without warning. Best to call to be sure. Where is the nearest medical facility?
Las Clinicas Del Norte has an established care clinic in Ojo Caliente which serves our rural population. It is on US 285 right next to the Post Office. They don’t practice urgent care, but you can get stitches and be evaluated/referred for other conditions. The clinic is open Tuesday – Friday 8 am to 6:30 pm. The number in Ojo is 583-2191.
